History of the manor house

The manor house in Grzebienisko is part of a land estate dating back to the turn of the 19th and 20th c. In the past, the estate belonged to the aristocratic family of Mycielski. Later on, the manor house was owned by the Górny family. In the middle of 1970s, Jerzy Zakrzewski, a well known ENT specialist from Poznań visited the Manor House in Grzebienisko. As an enthusiast of things that are beautiful and have some interesting history, he arrived to buy some old furniture. The agrarian reform of 1945, according to which land estates below 100 ha were not converted into state ownership, enabled the Zakrzewski family to buy the Manor House together with its furniture. The purchased Manor House needed renovation. Jerzy with his father Aleksander restored the building thoroughly. Having consulted an architect, they added the kitchen part, started the renovation of 1h of the park in the English style and converted the building of the old stable into a living house. Instead of the old wooden garden house, a new brick one with four Doric columns was designed. The author of the design was a well known architect Prof. Andrzej Gołkowski.
